Myotherapy vs Remedial Massage:
Which Should You Book?

It's the question we get asked most, and the honest answer is that at Diverse Myotherapy in Pascoe Vale South, both treatments go beyond just loosening muscles. We assess the body, treat the underlying cause where possible, and give you rehab or self-management strategies so your results last, whichever you choose. The real question isn't which one is better. It's this: do you need a deeper investigation, or do you already know what needs treating?

The right starting point if you're feeling tight, sore or overloaded from work, training or stress, and you want clinical hands-on treatment to help your body recover and feel better quickly. If you already know the general area that needs work, remedial massage gets straight to it.

The right choice when the issue keeps coming back, limits your movement, or feels more complex. That includes nerve-type pain, sharpness, pins and needles, or pain you can't quite explain. Myotherapy digs into why it keeps happening, not just the relief.

If you feel tight, overloaded or sore and know roughly where, book remedial massage. If the problem is recurring, movement-limiting, nerve-related or a mystery, book myotherapy. And if you're genuinely unsure, just pick one, your therapist will assess you properly either way and guide you from there.

Every appointment at Diverse Myotherapy includes a proper conversation about what's going on, hands-on treatment tailored to your body and tolerance, education about what's actually causing the issue, and rehab or self-care strategies where needed. The difference between the two services is the depth of assessment and complexity, never the quality of care.

Many clients start with remedial massage to settle things down, then move into myotherapy to address the root cause. Others solve the problem with myotherapy first, then maintain their progress with remedial sessions or recovery like our sauna and compression boots. The journey is flexible, and we'll always guide you based on your goals.

Yes, a small one. A 60 minute myotherapy session is $120 and a 60 minute remedial massage is $110, reflecting the deeper assessment involved in myotherapy. Both are covered by private health rebates with all major funds.

Any time. Your therapist will often recommend the switch themselves, for example moving you to myotherapy if a "simple" tight spot turns out to have a deeper cause, or back to remedial once the problem is solved.

There's no wrong door. Every session starts with an assessment, and your therapist will adjust the treatment, or recommend the other service for next time, based on what your body actually needs.

Whether you're after quick relief or a long-term fix, you're in the right place. Choose myotherapy or remedial massage when you pick your time, and if you're torn, just pick one and we'll take it from there.
